Why should I choose your mountain leader company?
Our mountain leaders have many years of experience navigating high mountains both in Slovakia and abroad. They are active members of the international UIMLA association of mountain leaders. Our priority is to ensure the safety of our clients, even in any unexpected situations. During our hikes, we will share interesting facts about the route, various mountain experiences, and answer any questions you may have.
How can I book a mountain leader for a specific date?
If you have chosen a specific date and location where you would like to go with us, simply send all the details to us via email. We will also need your billing information (name, address, phone number) or company details if applicable. We will issue an invoice, and once it is paid, we will reserve and confirm the date for you. In case of any uncertainties, we will contact you.
How does communication with the mountain leader proceed after booking?
Upon confirming your reservation, we will contact you. We will send you detailed information about the ascent, required equipment, and meeting time via email. The day before the scheduled date, we will review everything and confirm it over the phone.
For how large a group of people can I book a mountain leader?
Currently, there is no limit on the group size for reservations. The number of mountain leaders accompanying you will depend on the group size. You don't need to worry about anything; we will take care of everything for you.
Is it possible to choose a destination or peak that is not listed in your offerings?
Yes. However, if it involves a peak outside of our jurastiction, we will direct you to the right people.
What equipment is needed for a summer ascent?
Mandatory equipment in summer season:
- High hiking boots with a firm sole
- Ruksak (20 – 35 l)
- Waterproof clothing
- Warm clothing, warm socks
- Spare clothing – preferably packed in a waterproof bag (e.g., plastic bag)
- Sunglasses
- Sun cream
- Food and water (1-2 liter) for whole day
Recommended optional gear
- Head lamp
- Hat or cap
- First aid kit
- Mobile phone
What gear is needed for a winter ascent?
Mandatory equipment in winter season:
- Winter high hiking boots with a firm sole
- Ruksak (25 – 35 l)
- Gaiters – to keep out snow
- Winter clothing – waterproof clothing (jacket, pants), a fleece jacket, 2 sets of thermal underwear, a down vest or jacket, 2 hats, 2 pairs of gloves, warm socks
- Spare clothing – preferably packed in a waterproof bag (e.g., plastic bag)
- Sunglasses or skiing googles
- Food and water (1-2 liter) for whole day
- Head lamp
- Chain crampons (also known as microspikes)
Optional gear
- Mobile phone
- First aid kit
- Sun cream
If I don't have some of the required equipment, is it possible to rent it from you?
Yes. It is possible to rent individual pieces of equipment. We will inform you in advance about the necessary gear.
Is mountain insurance included in the price?
Yes. The price includes short-term mountain insurance, which covers mountain rescue services in Slovakia. To arrange the insurance, we will need the first and last names, dates of birth, email addresses, and phone numbers of all participants.
What if there is a unfavourable weather forecast for the agreed date?
In case unfavorable weather is forecasted for our planned day and your guide deems it unsafe, we will reschedule the ascent to another date. If none of the new dates work for you, a refund is also possible. More information at https://www.mountainjoy.sk/vseobecne-obchodne-podmienky/
Can I bring a baby with me?
The minimum age for a child on any ascent is 8 years old. Your child must be in good physical condition and have experience with high-altitude hiking. However, we do not offer any discounts for children.
